"We're literacy obsessed!"
Welcome to our classroom
Assessment
Assessment is an essential piece of our literacy program:
-
Assessment for learning lets us program according to our students' strengths and areas of need.
-
Assessment as learning tells us if the strategies we are teaching are working for our students and the next steps to take.
-
Assessment of learning shows us if our students have truely understood the concepts taught and if they will be able to apply that knowledge when faced with future challenges.
We utilize both formal (DRA, running records) and informal (observation, anecdotal notes, self-assessment) methods of assessment which allows us to keep weekly records of our students' progress.
Providing clear and consistent feedback to our students helps them to - with our support - develop realistic goals for their learning and puts them on the path to becoming life-long learners (and readers)!
